Whilst in a tavern late one night a mouse runs in terrified: a ghost is outside! Most patrons think the mouse has simply had too much mead, but the landlord is concerned. They have heard this story too many times recently and are worried about losing trade, so asks you quietly as adventurers of renown — or modest rates — to investigate, with a reward of 300 pips if the ghost doesn’t return again.

The drunken mouse is shaken but when calmed with a stiff drink can give directions to where he saw the ghost. On finding the ghost you discover that Basil (ghost mouse) is not maliciously scaring people but worried and panicked herself, trying to find someone to help recover her belongings.

She was buried with a favourite trinket which has been uncovered and taken by Zorphax (magpie). Basil has found Zorphax’s nest but being a spirit cannot take the trinket back herself, so she asks if you can retrieve the trinket and bury it again so that she can return to the spirit plane.

Will you negotiate with Zorphax to retrieve the trinket? Or try to steal it? Or is that too much effort when you can simply use magical weapons to destroy Basil?

A simple and unique storyline idea, with various possibilities of investigation and exploration. A horror then melancholic atmosphere. I like the choices left to the players, between action and diplomacy. Thanks !
