The Red Tower

At the top of a hill in the open countryside, with views across the distant landscape through its glass windows, stands a solitary bright red tower. Living here on his own is Tobias Thunderwolfe, an eccentric and reclusive old vole. He is very intelligent but easily distracted and absent-minded, often forgetting to eat or clean. However, whilst Tobias pays little attention to himself or his home, he pays a lot of attention to the world outside. He spends all waking hours, and many when he should be sleeping, watching from the various levels of the tower though many telescopes of his own design, making detailed if erratic notes of what he can see and filling a vast library with his observations.

If something has happened within sight of the tower, Tobias will know about it. But as he is just watching from afar there’s only so much he can know: his interpretation of events may be misleading and the hastily scribbled notes are scattered around the tower using a system that nobody else can comprehend.
